the point of the pen
Calligraphy isn't only for formal affairs and it doesn't just have to go on envelopes! Calligraphy is about creating something uniquely beautiful, whether it's to celebrate a special occasion like marriage or to use every day in the form of stationery. In a time when it’s become so easy to mass produce millions of commercial fonts, hand-lettering is a unique, human touch that always makes people feel special.

about me
"venerable are letters, infinitely brave, forlorn, and lost" — virginia woolf
I find inspiration for my calligraphy in everything from illuminated manuscripts and vintage advertisements to graffiti and hand-lettered antique signage. Lettering design to me is more than the pursuit of a pleasing aesthetic. Whether we choose to admit it or not, the appearance of words can affect the way we understand their meaning. I strive to evoke specific emotions with my letterforms and therefore influence the interpretation of the words they create.
Envelope design is a passion of mine. I believe an envelope doesn’t achieve its true purpose until it’s mailed and received, until the stamps have been voided by the post office and the seal has been broken, so while I collect vintage stamps and stationery I don’t let myself get too attached to actually use them.
I am based in Los Angeles, California, but have completed projects for people from around the world and can easily work remotely. Please contact me if you have any questions or comments.
